THE PEACOCK HOUSE
ART FOUNDATION INC

Inspired by a lifelong appreciation for art, architecture, and the natural world, this artist discovered mosaic as a medium that beautifully brings together history, craftsmanship, and creative expression. Having spent nearly a decade living in Rome, she developed a deep appreciation for the city's extraordinary mosaic traditions, where intricate stone pathways, decorative walls, and centuries-old works of art are woven into the everyday landscape.

Her connection to the art form also has roots in her Sicilian heritage. Visits to historic landmarks such as the magnificent mosaics of Monreale in Palermo and the remarkably preserved mosaic floors of Villa Romana del Casale in Piazza Armerina left a lasting impression, inspiring an appreciation for the artistry and enduring beauty of this ancient tradition.

Today, her work draws heavily from nature, exploring organic forms, patterns, and the interplay of contrasting elements. Through the thoughtful combination of stone, glass, color, texture, and light, she creates compositions that balance intricate detail with a sense of natural movement.

Each individual piece, or tessera, contributes its own character to the larger composition. The careful arrangement of these unique elements creates depth, rhythm, and visual harmony, transforming small fragments into a cohesive work of art.

While mosaic is an art form deeply rooted in history, her approach embraces both its traditional craftsmanship and contemporary possibilities. Experimenting with shape, scale, color, and material, she explores the relationship between decorative beauty and functional design. The natural luminosity of glass and stone gives each work a changing quality, revealing new details as light and perspective shift.

Through a process that requires patience, precision, and an appreciation for the smallest details, she brings together individual elements to create works that are at once structured and organic, timeless and distinctly personal.
