"Beyond The Brush" 
2025 Summer Art Camp







"Beyond the Brush" at The Art Lab of The Peacock House Art Foundation invites students to explore the world of art through diverse and innovative mediums that go far beyond traditional painting. This dynamic program introduces participants to a variety of art mediums, including pottery, glass art, creative writing, website building  and more, as powerful forms of creative expression. Blending art history with hands-on experiences, students will discover how artists across time and cultures have used various tools and techniques to tell stories, share ideas, and shape the world around them. From ancient ceramics to modern digital platforms, "Beyond the Brush" empowers learners to see art as a limitless journey of exploration and personal voice.

Dates: June 9th through August 15th (10 Weeks of Classes) 

Cost: $150 per child

Time: 12pm-2pm (8-12) & 3pm-5pm (13-16)

When: 5X a week, M-F

What do we offer?

AGES 8 - 12

Clay

    • Learn basic clay techniques like pinching, coiling, and slab-building
    • Design and sculpt unique pieces such as mini pots, figurines, wall art, or jewelry
    • Add texture and detail using stamps, tools, and found objects
    • Paint and seal finished creations for long-lasting display
    • Express personal style through shape, form, and decoration

Mosaic

    • Learn the basics of mosaic art, including design planning, tile cutting, and layout techniques
    • Experiment with glass, ceramic, and mixed media materials to create bold, textured designs
    • Discover how to adhere and grout your work for a polished, professional finish
    • Explore pattern, color, and composition in a supportive, inspiring environment

Abstract Painting

    • Explore the elements of abstract art—color, line, shape, and texture
    • Experiment with different tools and techniques, from brushes and sponges to palette knives and unconventional materials
    • Tap into creativity and emotion to create expressive, one-of-a-kind artworks
    • Develop your own visual language, inspired by modern and contemporary abstract artists
    • Play with layering, blending, and composition in a relaxed, supportive environment

"Junk" Journaling / Scrapbooking

    • Learn about mixed media
    • Apply media on personal journals (provided)
    • How to properly seal your journal


AGES 13 - 16

Creative Writing (teens)

    • Language and composition
    • Webbing and world building
    • Character creation and development
    • Flexibility vs. rigidity in your story development
    • Writer's block and other pitfalls
    • Beta & publishing

Digital Art (*Computer/ipad required for participation)

    • Uses and practical applications
    • Computer basics, good websites, software, and apps
    • Functions of the best FREE websites (MS Paint, Canva, GIMP, & Inkscape)

Codeless Website Building (*Computer/ipad required for participation)
